Stampede and Lumberjacks to Collide!

The Superior Stampede will take on the nationally ranked Twin Cities Lumberjacks on August 16th @ 6 p.m. at Irondale High School in what will be a NEFL-NAFL showdown. Last season, the Stampede were the first team in the country to defeat the Lumberjacks, who are predominately made up of high Division I and II players, as well as several former professionals. The Lumberjacks defeated the Stampede in the league semi-finals to even the score. Management of both teams have agreed to make this game an annual event between two of the toughest teams in the country!

Former Superior Stampede All-American DE Dan Turcotte, Jr. helped the Orlando Rage of the SSFL in Florida win the "Rice Bowl" Saturday by defeating the Sarasota Millionaires, 55-26.  Additionally, Turcotte was named a league All-Star and was the team's recipient of the Joel Crane Award, given annually to the player who most exemplifies "...the attributes, dedication, leadership, enthusiasm, and team motivation" to the game of football.  The Rage will now play for the National Football Events National championship game May 24th in Daytona Beach.  For more information and the write-up on Dan, go to www.orlandorage.com.

Stampede Announce New Head Coach

The Superior Stampede have announced this evening that their new head coach will be Matt Krivinchuk.  Coack "K" is a 2000 graduate of Superior Senior High School.  He played his high school football under Wisconsin Football Coaches Hall of Fame member, Tom Mestelle. Coach Krivinchuk began his coaching career after high school, joining Tom Mestelle's staff in Superior.  He has worked with two other head coaches in his eight years at Superior (Brett Vesel & currently under Bob Demeyer).  Coach Krivinchuk has served as a defensive coordinator seven out of his eight years, at the freshmen and junior varsity levels.  Coach Krivinchuk joined the Stampede in 2006, as a linebackers coach.  He was promoted to defensive coordinator later that spring.  In 2007, Coach K's defense recorded 57 sacks, 19 Int's, 8 forced fumbles, 4 blocked kicks, and scored 6 touchdowns in 10 games played.  The defense gave up an average of 5.7 points per game.  He is the son of Paul & Jean Krivinchuk.  He has two sisters, Heather & Danielle.

Coach Fawcett Resigns

Superior Stampede Head Coach Terry Fawcett resigned Saturday following the Stampede's 16-0 loss to the Twin Cities Lumberjacks in the Mid-America Football League semi-finals.  The Stampede finished their season 9-3.  Fawcett had an overall record of 31-15 and led his four teams (two with the Duluth/Superior Shoremen) to four straight league semi-final appearances and helped produce 11 All-Americans in three years.


The Stampede's new head coach will be announced on Oct 28th, at the Stampede awards banquet.

Today the Office of Commissioner of Football announced the suspension of the schedule for the Cass Country  Renegades for the remainder of the 2007 campaign.

The Renegades failed to honor their road game commitment to the Superior Stampede, after only 9 players showed up to travel for the game. The failure initiates the NAFL's automatic Sudden Death punishment.

Fawcett to Coach in Hall of Fame Game!

Superior Stampede Head Coach Terry Fawcett has been named the Special Teams Coordinator for the Minor League Football News'  4th Annual Hall of Fame Game, which will be played December 8th, 2007 in Mesquite, Nevada.  The MLFN All-Star squad will take on the Copper League All-Stars of Arizona.  Fawcett will also present former Stampede player and long-time minor league player, Garnet Asmundson, for his introduction into the minor league football hall of fame.

Stampede Sign Burke!

The Superior Stampede have announced the signing of former Arizona Cardinals 3rd round draft choice and four-year NFL veteran Thomas Burke of Maple, Wisconsin.  The 6-4 285 pound defensive end was a 1st team All-American at the University of Wisconsin, where he was also named the 1999 Big Ten Player of the Year.  Burke played his high school football at Northwestern in Maple.

Guillory Named Player of the Week Again!

Superior Stampede RB Kevin Guillory was named Minor League Football News National Player of the Week at running back for the Central Region for the second time in two games. The 2006 MFL Player of the Year rushed 16 times for 144 yards in the Stampede's 36-6 rout of the previously undefeated Northern Wiscosnin Thunderhawks of the Great Plains Football League in a non-league contest on June 23rd.

Guillory Named "Player of the Week"

Even a lightning-shortened game couldn't stop Stampede RB Kevin Guillory from picking up where he left off in 2006.  The 1st team All-American and 2006 Mid-America Football League Player of the Year was named Player of the Week at running back for the Central Region by Minor League Football News, as announced this morning.  Guillory, of Iota, Louisiana rushed 8 times for 62 yards & 2 TD's and also caught one pass for 14 yards and another score, all in the first half of the Stampede's 21-7 victory over the Chippewa Valley Predators in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on June 2nd.

The Superior Stampede and IFAN have agreed to partner for the 2007 season.  This now means that fans will have the opportunity to watch live webcasts of Stampede football games at www.ifan.tv !

The Superior Stampede have announced that they have agreed to a 2-year contract extension with The Fan 560 WEBC radio!  All games will be broadcast, both home and away, as the games will be broadcast by wireless remote and not dependent on stadium phone lines!
